My Top 10 Favorite WordPress Plugins

My Top 10 Favorite WordPress PluginsPhoto via stocksnap

Hello muffins!

In my today’s post I will list all the plugins I am using on my blog as well as some other plugins I’ve used in the past and would recommend. I like testing out new plugins all the time and try to make my blog look nicer. I love using plugins, I would use 30 plugins if I could, BUT that would be a bad idea as a bunch of plugins can make you site load slower, therefore select and use your plugins wisely!

Please note this is only for WordPress (self-hosted) and I really hope you find it useful!

Here are my top ten plugins (in no particular order) which I would recommend to other bloggers:

#1. Use any font

I’m obsessed with this plugin as I love fonts <3. This plugin gives you freedom to use any font on your site with font format ttf and otf. You can browse some beautiful fonts here.

It’s really easy to set this up, you don’t need any css knowledge. You can use one font for free, in case you like the plugin you can purchase the full version where you will be able to use multiple fonts.

#2. Pinterest Automatic Pin

I think that this is my favorite plugin ever! It saves me so much time, I don’t have to go to Pinterest an pin every single image within my post, I can just use this plugin from my WordPress dashboard and pin unlimited number of images! This plugin can pin your featured image and any other image you might have in your post, which is amazing! It has loads of customization and features! Would absolutely recommend if you use Pinterest frequently.

#3. WordPress SEO by Yoast

Let’s say you have good content and you write regularly, but unfortunately that is not enough! You need to improve your SEO, it’s important. This plugin is taking care of my site’s SEO and it helps me check things, like alt tag on my images or if I’ve written a meta description and that meta description contains my focus keyword, etc. I read so many comments about bloggers struggling with SEO, with this plugin you don’t have worry! 🙂

#4.  wpDiscuz – WordPress Comments

This is a commenting system I am using and I like it a lot, it is responsive and has a live update function. I like that it has a cool comment threads design, it’s extremely easy to use and gives you great control over how the comments look, and believe me, I tried several comment plugins, finally I find my favorite!

#5. WordPress Ping Optimizer

Ok, this is not a popular plugin and you might not heard of it yet, but I will tell you why this is in my top 10 list. You might already know that WordPress blog pings unnecessarily every time you edit a post, you know, when you click on save draft, then you continue editing it. When this happens your blog is getting tagged as ping spammer, so in order to prevent this, I am using this amazing plugin.

#6. WP Slimstat

This is the web analytics plugin that I am using to measure my stats. Again, I been trying loads of stat plugins and this one is my favorite. It has a bunch of key features, I get to see exactly what people are doing and how they move around, what are their searching keywords, etc.

#7. WP Super Cache

This is a caching engine and I am sure you already use this plugin. This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WP blog. This plugin speeds up my site quite well, just make sure you use all the recommended settings once installed.

#8. Related Posts Lite

This is a great plugin to show your old posts to your visitors and get more exposure, I love the design, this uses a complex keyword based engine to look for related content. It’s very easy to set it up, and I think it’s the nicest looking related posts plugin!

#9. jQuery Pin It Button For Images

You can see this plugin in action if you hover your mouse over my images, can you see the Pin it image? It highlights images and adds a ‘Pin it’ button over them, once you activate the plugin, it will go with the typical settings.

#10. EWWW Image Optimizer

This plugin reduces file sizes for images using lossless/lossy methods and image format conversion. This plugin will also help you speed up your site just by optimizing the existing pictures and provides just enough settings to keep everything simple yet gives you enough control over your customization.

Hope you find this post useful 🙂

Lots of good tips! I’m not on WP yet, but I think I may move over just for the plug ins 😉

Your Amazon banners look great! Do you use any plugins to add them? I tried adding the banner text into a widget in my sidebar, but it looked terrible because my theme has borders around each widget. Is there a way to either turn the borders off or add a plugin to magically make my banners look nice? 😉
