What the heck is a #hashtag?!

First of all let’s clarify what is a hashtag. A #tag is a metadata tag used on social media and micro-blogging services which makes life easier as you can find specific content much quicker using these little cute #hashtags. They can be inserted anywhere within a sentence, I usually put mine at the end, I think it just looks better this way.

Where I can use #hashtags ?!

Well, I have great news for you! Almost every network use #tags in the same basic way – it’s just a fab. way to organize your stuff, I won’t list all of them as I would sit here for hours, but I will list few of the most important networks:

Twitter: the ‘mother’ of #tag I would say, just joking, but really, please login to your Twitter account and scroll, what do you see? #tags everywhere. I love it, since using #tags I get loads of re-tweets and loads of followers, the key is to know how to use them, but I will talk about that later, be patient 🙂

Instagram: If I want to see salads, I will look for #salad and I will find loads, simple as that, great example, huh? You can tell that I am hungry right now!
Instagram is my second favorite network to use #tags.

Facebook: Now, this is something new, I newer used #tags on Face, but recently I seen more and more people using it, so I said, why not, I want to try it! If you want to use #tags on Face, please make sure you have the correct privacy settings.

Pinterest: If you wish to add #tags you need to do it in the Pin description otherwise they won’t be clickable, use keywords, this is a great way to get tons of pins and followers >> bog traffic.

Google+: this network uses #tags as usual, to be honest Google+ is not my favorite platform, don’t get me wrong, I do share my content on there, but I just don’t like it!

Tumblr: when you create a post you will have a section called ‘tags’, easy to use and effective!

Okay, but How to Use Hashtags?

It’s easy peasy! Simple add the ‘#’ sign before a single word/keyword, please note that you don’t need to use punctuation!

Now, the MOST IMPORTANT  is to be specific, come up with some relevant hashtags, don’t just use them because you see it everywhere.
You can also create your own #tag which is pretty cool, this is especially recommended if you are creating an event or a campaign (make sure the hashtag has not been used before).

Another IMPORTANT advice – Don’t hashtag every single word – again, find the relevant keywords from the post.

Finally, I would like to share some hashtags for you to get started!

Example – Hashtags for Bloggers:

#fashion #blogger #igdc #streetstyle #grittychic #whatiwore #weekendlove #ootd #streetwear #stylist #wiwt #fashionblog #lookdujour #montreal #mydigitalescape #screenshot #sitting #bryanstars #snapchat #mde #celebrity #harpersbazaar #trend #highfashion #beautymadnesssss #fashiondesigner #fbloggers #picture #life #beautifulsea #bellezasdelanaturaleza #travel #spainblog #streetbrand #abbigliamento #hot #italia #freedom #travelblogger #germanblogger #riga #travelblog #baltic #foodblogger #food #salmon #lunch #fusion #passionfruit #kyledavidhall #band #goalsaf #bandobsession #goals #vlogger #youtube #perfect #funny #musicislife #xoxo #rowforrow #whitestagram #girly #beautyguru #nude #makeuprevolution #makeupguru #instamood #bazaaruk #show #simple #oliviapalermo #different #stripes #celeb #trends #designer #design #trendy #happyweekend #fashionbloggers #sky #thefridaylord #asturias #fashionmen.
